Widescreen can provide Portable Production Units (PPU's) in both HD and SD. The PPU's are full broadcast spec and are used by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and independent production companies.
We can offer multiple PPU's which can provide 3-12 cameras fully racked and controlled.
The smallest PPU can provide up to 8 cameras in SD or HD with live web or broadcast capabilities.
The mid PPU is capable of connecting 14 cameras and 2 VT sources in HD or SD to full broadcast specs - with live web and broadcast capabilities.

he large PPU is capable of 24 cameras and 6 external synchronised sources in HD or SD.
All units are fully digital and provide HDSDI/SDI and analogue outputs. All units have audio embedders or separate AES/ analogue audio we can also embed Dolby 5.1 audio (Dolby E) if required.
All units are full broadcast quality and meet all current HD specifications. We have now tested and completed a full Side by Side 3D transmission from all PPU's succesfully to a host internet broadcaster.
The PPU's can be supplied with all types of cameras including HD and SD camcorders fully racked and engineered to allow a fully graded transmission or event screen feed. This configuration is a cost-effective solution if you require all cameras to be on a isolated record (there is a maximum distance the camera can be away from the PPU in this mode). All our location cameras can be configured to work with our PPU including the Sony PDW700, Sony HDW790/750P, Sony F3 and the Sony EX3.
Our normal PPU operation for live TV/Web TX and screen feeds is using Fibre/Triax camera channels for stability, speed and reliabilty. Our recommended cameras are Sony HDC 1500 (if filming in HD), Sony E30 (if filming in SD). We can also supply super slo-mo cameras dependent on your requirements.
All PPU's can be used and programmed for stage shows and concerts for Imag.
Our PPU's can incorporate several types of TC controlled graphics and video replay equipment including bitmapping for multiple screen outputs from the vision mixer.
All PPU's have HD/SD up and down convertors as standard and our larger PPU's accept all computer graphics as standard with the built in convertors.
We also have the ability to record directly to FCP and AVID record formats to speed up edit digitisation and ingest.
